Aaron University, or AU as the many sweatshirts proclaimed, had more than it's fair share of mad times, but none so much as Move In Week. When the students returned, or first came, they came in droves along the streets of Aaron's Grove, Virginia, packing the streets of the college town with their parents's cars and their UHauls. They filled the streets, hitting the college bookstore, the bars and restaurants, and of course, the Grove Mall and grocery stores, buying out everything they could possibly need for the first month of their lives, far away from home.
However, if you thought this time of year was when the Professors got to sit back and just wait for the students to get themselves sorted? You'd be sorely mistaken. It's the time of year where Heads of Departments are looking for syllabuses, for updates on exam schedules, and of course to pull the Professors to entertain Freshman Orientation events, to volunteer to manage and run student activities, or just show up at the Dean's annual Tea to greet the Professors back to another successful fall semester.
It's utter insanity, for young adults looking to start their paths, or who are halfway there, and the older adults who are there to guide them through their formative educational years. And what better place, then AU?
((ooc: Well there you have it, folks! Post your characters doing whatever, and feel free to jump on other threads! Remember, there are no super powers here, but everything about your character's personality? Can stay as canon as you want. Feel free to ping me or Batty on Plurk if you want to start something new or have an idea for another group event! Or ... just ping us because you want to play.))

She had various artifacts in her office, ones she suggested her students avoided touching when they visited-- as she knew many of them had a habit of fiddling with whatever was closest when they were nervous. She enjoyed the deer-in-headlights look they gave her when she suggested they keep their hands off, as they wouldn't know if they'd be cursed if they laid their hands upon the artifact. For the few students that excelled at her class, at the end of the year, she funded a small group trip to one of the many places in the united states linked to occult-heavy history. Salem had been a favorite of most, and it was the place they traveled most often. There was one year, however, where they traveled to New Orleans to explore the rich history of Voodoo.
Professor Knight scratched another note into the margin of her syllabus rough draft, green eyes narrowing. She then set the papers down and scribbled in her planner that she needed to double check with the campus library once she'd been at the tea a reasonable amount of time, to make sure they had enough copies of her textbook. Year after year, there was always some trouble or another and she wanted to nip it in the bud this year.

Because honestly knowing his luck? His new neighbors were going to be some professor he had this year. Or some TA for a class he had to take, or the daughter of the local preacher. His luck with neighbors had been notoriously bad -- see last year where he had to move out because of the slight drug dealing problem. And his freshman year, where he lived in the dorms and his roommate just happened to be a pyromaniac.
Yeah, he wouldn't be too surprised that this new neighbor? Would be nothing but trouble.

Vivian was quieter now, but stronger, and certainly more observant as she swept her hair to the side and sketched the outside of her dormitory from memory. Her roommate had not arrived yet but the idea made her nervous. She rarely hung out with girls and the only female she had ever lived with was her impossible mother.
With a glance towards her still unopened boxes, she continued drawing.

Great, now he had to try to find them in the mess of restaurants downtown, which means that could be just about anywhere. He sighed, and took a moment to write back on the board, Looking for you guys Text me if I miss you.
With that written, he turned to find the door opposite open and a girl sitting there, head bowed down so all he saw was golden hair. Flash of inspiration, he leaned in to knock on the door. He flashed a sheepish smile, and a wave. "Hey, I don't suppose you were here long enough to hear or see where your across the way neighbors went, did you?"

And still, her roommate had not checked in, leaving a depressingly lonely half of the bedroom. Not that Vivian minded much, as she had always been a lone wolf. Sitting up, she offered him a tiny smile in greeting.

He leaned back to look at the door to see if her name was there. There were two names, so he took a shot, "Jessica?"

She got to her bare feet and padded over to him, adjusting her broom pan/door stop. Casually, with a little flick of her gaze over him, she leaned against a stack of boxes.
"What's your name?"

Date: 2013-11-07 01:03 am (UTC)He liked it. It suited her. Sort of ... elegant. He looked back at her, surprised to find her right in front of him. Hello stealthy hot girl.
Wait, she asked his name. "... Isaac. Isaac Lahey."
He leaned against the doorway, stuffing his hands in his pockets, "So, Vivian, not Jessica, I have to ask. What's with all the unpacked boxes?"

Date: 2013-11-07 04:05 am (UTC)"I started with my clothes..." Vivian gestured to the half-filled bureau at the foot of her bed. "And then I started unpacking my books and art supplies and I found myself sitting on the floor. And an hour later, you found me like this."
