There was an open door down the hallway where a quiet blonde sat on the floor against some moving boxes with her legs crossed and a sketchbook in her lap. She had insisted on moving in alone, afraid that her family (her cousins and the other boys) would make a scene and fill up the entire hallway. It had been a momentous occasion, the only girl in the family heading off to college all by herself.
It had been quite some time since anyone had finished at a university - the last person being her father, now passed away after that big fire in Virginia.
Vivian was quieter now, but stronger, and certainly more observant as she swept her hair to the side and sketched the outside of her dormitory from memory. Her roommate had not arrived yet but the idea made her nervous. She rarely hung out with girls and the only female she had ever lived with was her impossible mother.
With a glance towards her still unopened boxes, she continued drawing.
