Aaron University, or AU as the many sweatshirts proclaimed, had more than it's fair share of mad times, but none so much as Move In Week. When the students returned, or first came, they came in droves along the streets of Aaron's Grove, Virginia, packing the streets of the college town with their parents's cars and their UHauls. They filled the streets, hitting the college bookstore, the bars and restaurants, and of course, the Grove Mall and grocery stores, buying out everything they could possibly need for the first month of their lives, far away from home.

However, if you thought this time of year was when the Professors got to sit back and just wait for the students to get themselves sorted? You'd be sorely mistaken. It's the time of year where Heads of Departments are looking for syllabuses, for updates on exam schedules, and of course to pull the Professors to entertain Freshman Orientation events, to volunteer to manage and run student activities, or just show up at the Dean's annual Tea to greet the Professors back to another successful fall semester.

It's utter insanity, for young adults looking to start their paths, or who are halfway there, and the older adults who are there to guide them through their formative educational years. And what better place, then AU?

In a far corner of the Dean's annual 'tea and greet', sat Professor Knight. Her fiery locks were piled in a bun on top of her bent head as she focused on getting the last of her notes prepared. An untouched teacup sat on the small table in front of her, as she chewed on the end of her pen, staring down at her syllabus for 'Dancing with the Devi: A History of the Occult in America'. There were a few things she needed to tweak, as marked by her sword-shaped pen in bold strokes. It was her favorite pen, a gift from a student the previous year. It was meant as a joke, since Professor Abigail Knight was known for being a strict general type when it came to her students. She treated her class and its subject like it was the be all end all of classes. The first year of her teaching the history of the occult, students had thought it was going to be an easy A. Over half the class flunked or dropped, not expecting the heavy workload.

The occult was Abby's favorite subject. She delved deep into the rich, dark history of witchcraft and demonism and the like. She had various artifacts in her office, ones she suggested her students avoided touching when they visited-- as she knew many of them had a habit of fiddling with whatever was closest when they were nervous. She enjoyed the deer-in-headlights look they gave her when she suggested they keep their hands off, as they wouldn't know if they'd be cursed if they laid their hands upon the artifact. For the few students that excelled at her class, at the end of the year, she funded a small group trip to one of the many places in the united states linked to occult-heavy history. Salem had been a favorite of most, and it was the place they traveled most often. There was one year, however, where they traveled to New Orleans to explore the rich history of Voodoo.

Professor Knight scratched another note into the margin of her syllabus rough draft, green eyes narrowing. She then set the papers down and scribbled in her planner that she needed to double check with the campus library once she'd been at the tea a reasonable amount of time, to make sure they had enough copies of her textbook. Year after year, there was always some trouble or another and she wanted to nip it in the bud this year.
